It was sun and few clouds and 20 degrees. 

The Arthritis Joints In Motions Run at Sam's Restaurant. The course on Centennial Drive and Cornwall Rd. 

Billy MacDonald won the 10km race and Dianne Watts-Pye for the top female. I finished in 39:53 and came in 4th out of 22 runners. Blair McQuaid won the 5km race and Kayla Balderston for the top female.

Brookvale Ultra Trail Marathon 2011

It was cloudy and 17 degrees.

The Brookvale Ultra Trail Marathon at Brookvale Provincal Park. The loop course on ski trails, mountain bike trails, dirt roads and woodlot.

Billy MacDonald won the 25km race with new course record and Hazel Caldwell from Nova Scotia for the top female with new course record.

I finished in 2:39:21 and came in 15th out of 36 runners.

Matt Allain won the 10km race with new course record and Jenn Duncan for the top female.

Steven Baglole won the 50km race with new course record and Sarah MacKinnon for top female.

Another PB! - 8K / 5 Mile Red's Corner Run

It was cloud and fog and 16 degrees.

The Red's Corner Run at Red's Corner Restaurant. The loop course on Georgetown Rd, Power Rd and Route 4.

Leo McCosham won the 8km race and Jillian Greene for the top female.

I finished in 28:18, beat my 5 miles PB, 2:27 faster than Clark's Toyota 5 Miler and came in 3rd out of 66 runners.

Nolan McKenna won the 4km race and Kelly Clements for the top female.

Cox and Palmer 2011 - Another PB!

It was cloudy and 15 degrees.

The Cox and Palmer Run at Cox and Palmer Law Office. The out and back course on Old Charlottetown, Victoria Park and Brighton.

Kris Taylor won the 10km race and Natalie Dallaire for the top female.

I finished in 38:17, beat my 10km PB, 24 seconds faster than May's Rural Raider Run and came in 7th out of 79 runners.

Carson Campbell won the 5km race and Madeleine Crowell for the top female.

Tomorrow I train at Brookvale Provincal Park for ultra trail marathon.

Dunk River Run - a PB, 3rd Place, a Trophy & a Medal!

It was sun and clouds and 16 degrees.

The Dunk River Run at Central Bedeque Arena. The loop course on Rayner Rd, Ross Corner, Freetown Rd, Mill Rd, and Dunk River Rd.

Scott Clark won the race and Jennifer Pizio-Perry for the top female.

I finished in 46:01, beat my race time 5:11 faster than 2009 Dunk River Run and came in 3rd out of 68 runners. I won the 3rd Place Overall trophy and Male 20-29 1st place medal.

CENTRAL BEDEQUE – Scott Clark of Summerside was the top overall runner in the 34th annual Dunk River Road Race, sponsored by Callbeck’s Home Hardware.

Clark, 47, had a time of 41:55 in what he termed perfect running conditions Sunday morning. Leo McCosham (43:19) and Alex Bain (46:01) rounded out the top-three finishers.

Jennifer Pizio-Perry of Greenmount won her fourth women’s title in a row, setting a course personal best time of 50:12. She was 10th overall. Allie Keedwell (52:06), 15th overall, and Brenda Benson (53:27), 18th overall, followed Pizio-Perry in the women’s division.

Overall, 68 runners participated in the 11.667-kilometre run.

Hustle for Hoops - A 2nd Place Finish

It was cloudy and 18 degrees.

The Hustle For Hoops at UPEI. The loop course on campus and Confederation trail.

Cal DeWolfe from Nova Scotia won the race and Jennifer Egan for the top female.

I finished in 18:09 and came 2nd out of 67 runners.

The Boardwalk Boogie 6K

It was sun and cloud and 16 degrees.

The Boardwalk Boogie 6K at Shipyard Market. The out and back course on Summerside Boardwalk.

Connor McGuire won the race and Jennifer Pizio-Perry for the top female.

I finished in 21:59 and came in 6th out of 57 runners.

I won the Male 30 and under first place medal.

Steven Baglole won the 10K race and Jenn Nicholson for the top female. Bradley Palmer won the 5K race and Hannah Walker for top female.

I finished in 43:25 and came in 12th out of 55 runners.

Cox and Palmer run

Approximately 200 runners and walkers were not paying much attention to the beautiful sight of the boats at the dock behind them as they left the starting line on Great George Street Saturday morning for the fourth annual Cox and Palmer run to raise funds for the fight against prostate cancer. There was a 10 kilometer run, five kilometer run and a five kilometer walk. The race is known for its giveaways at the finish line and this year there are many prizes donated by Island businesses.

It was cloudy and rain and windy and 16 degrees.

The Cox and Palmer Run at Old Charlottetown and Victoria Park.

I wore the shoes from last year prize at the Cox and Palmer run.

Rob Mackenzie won the race and Rebecca Pike for the top female.

Connor McGuire won the 5km race and Alannah MacDonald for the top female.

I finished in 43:05, beating 16 seconds from last year and came in 12th out of 46 runners.

The Dunk River Run - a PB - and more volunteering at the Canadian Juniors

It was cloudy and 20 degrees.

The Dunk River Run on the 7.22 miles loop course on Freetown and Dunk River.

Alex Coffin won the race for the 3rd time and Jennifer Perry for the top female.

I finished in 51:12, came in 16th out of 64runners and 3rd place of 20-29 and a personal best by 2 seconds.

Coffin, Perry repeat winners at Dunk River road race

CENTRAL BEDEQUE — Alex Coffin and Jennifer Perry repeated as winners of the 32nd annual Callbeck's Home Hardware Dunk River Run Sunday.
Coffin was the race’s overall winner in 40 minutes, 18 seconds while Perry was the top female runner, finishing 13th overall in 50:13.
“My whole strategy was to run a very fast first 5K,” said Coffin, 40.
Coffin jumped out to an early lead and 18-year-old Connor McGuire of Summerside stayed with him for about the first two miles.
“I watched him (McGuire) run at the Canadian juniors (Saturday in Charlottetown), and I knew he was running back-to-back races,” said Coffin, explaining his reason for a fast start. “I figured I’d take it out quick and it’s tough to run back-to-back. I figured that was the right strategy today.”
Mike MacKinnon finished second overall in 41:37, McGuire was third in 43:07, Scott Clark came fourth in 43:09 and David Gallant rounded out the top five in 44:44.
Coffin is from Saint John, N.B., but his wife, Connie (Perry) Coffin, is originally from St. Nicholas. He has become a familiar face at P.E.I. races over the years.
Hannah Walker, 19, was the second female to finish behind Perry in 52:54 and 21st overall.
Perry, 32, led the female field from the start of the race.
“I found the pace very fast at the beginning,” said Perry, who resides in Greenmount. “I haven’t done a lot of hill training and I anticipated the hills to keep my pace steady.”
Perry added she doesn’t find the 7.25-mile course that begins and ends in front of the Bedeque Area Recreation Centre all that hilly.
A total of 64 runners participated.

At Canadian Jr. Track and Field Championships I working at results and timing.

I take the results from result room to Technical Information Centre.

At the TIC they photo copy the result post them.

I watching the steeplechase race, 200 metre dash and relays when were not working.

I saw lot from where i work.

It was a good time.

My mom worked at shot put, high jump and javelin.

Dunk River Road Race goes Sunday morning

CENTRAL BEDEQUE -- The Callbeck's Home Hardware Dunk River Road Race will be held Sunday.
The 32nd edition of the event will follow its traditional course, starting at 9 a.m., at the Bedeque Recreational Centre, with the finish line at the same location.
Registration goes from 8-8:50 a.m.
Coffee mugs will be presented to the first 68 registered runners, with awards to follow post race.
Course records belong to Matt Sheffield (37:42), male and overall, set in 2006, and Janice Ashworth (42:57) female, from 2005. Both were Halifax residents.
The 2008 male champion was Alex Coffin of Saint John, N.B., while the top woman was Jennifer Perry of P.E.I., who at 55:12, placed 19th overall in a field of 62.

Cox and Palmer - Top 10 Finish & New Shoes!

It was overcast and 22 degrees and humidex of 30 degrees.

The Cox and Palmer Run at Old Charlottetown and Victoria Park.

The out and back course of 5km and 10km.

The 2nd half of race it start drizzle and passed Derek Underhill within 2km to finish in 43:21 and came in 8th out of 41 runners.

Keaghan Rilling won the race and Rebecca Walker for the top female.

Matt MacDonald won the 5km race and Laura Smith for the top female.

I won the door prize for the last draw was a pair of Mizuno Running Shoes from Sporting Intentions.

My mom bought a new camera for lot of pictures.

A Personal Best 7.25 Mile Dunk River Run

It was cloudy and no wind and 18 degrees. The 7 miles loop course on Dunk River and hills.

It was three personal bests in the row and I got a ribbon for 3rd in 20-29 age group. I came in 18th out 62 runners and time of 51:14.

Alex Coffin won the race and Jennifer Perry for the top female.

CENTRAL BEDEQUE -- Alex Coffin of Saint John, N.B., was the overall winner of the 31st annual Dunk River Road Race on Saturday morning.

Coffin, 39, stopped the clock in 39 minutes and 22 seconds (39:22). Mike MacKinnon of Miscouche finished second overall in 40:34 and Scott Clark of Linkletter was third in 41:57.

Jennifer Perry, 31, of Tignish was the female winner. She completed the 11.6-kilometre (7.22 miles) course in 51:55, 19th overall.

Alex Coffin executed his game plan to perfection Saturday morning.

Coffin, who last ran and won the 11.6-kilometre (7.22 miles) Callbeck's Home Hardware Dunk River Road Race about 15 years ago, jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to winning the 31st annual run in 39 minutes and 22 seconds (39:22).

"I went out really fast," said Coffin, 39, who resides in Saint John, N.B. "I ran this race a long time ago and I wanted to try and get in under 40 minutes."

Tignish resident Jennifer Perry was the top female runner with a time of 51:55.

"I didn't know the route and I was told about a couple of inclines," said the 31-year-old Perry, who finished 19th overall in the 62-runner field. "Overall, I think it was a great challenge and I really enjoyed it."

Mike MacKinnon of Miscouche finished second overall in 40:34 and Scott Clark of Linkletter was third in 41:57.

"I know a lot of the runners here and I thought if I could get a good lead on them then I could concentrate more on getting the time I wanted," explained Coffin.

It was a family affair for Coffin, whose wife, Connie, finished 28th overall in 53:41. She was the fifth-finishing female.

"The big reason I was here was my wife really wanted to do this run and she grew up in St. Nicholas," said Coffin.

Almost a minute

Perry held a 55-second advantage over Pat Ellis, who finished in 52:50, 24th overall. Jennifer Nickerson was the third-finishing female in 53:22, 25th overall.

Perry said she and two other female runners were together for about the first two miles before she moved into the lead around the three-mile mark.

"I don't like to look behind me so I don't know how long we were all together," she said with a smile.

How did Perry find the course?

"The inclines were nice and spaced out," she answered. "I found criss-crossing over the roads was a bit tricky, but other than that it is a pretty good route."

Good conditions

Coffin and Perry both agreed runners were greeted with favourable conditions.

"There was no wind; it was perfect," said Coffin.

Perry added: "Even a little bit of a drizzle would have been nice. It was really nice weather for running."

Start Finish/ Transition held at the Stanhope Beach Complex. It is located on the Gulfshore Rd aproximately 1 Km from the Dalvay hotel.

The swim was in the ocean in a triangle of 750 m. The Bike was an out and back heading East on the Gulf Shore Road leaving the park in Dalvay, with a turn around 10 Km down that Road. The run was on the same road only heading west towards the Covehead bay with a turn around place 2.5 Km down the road.

Olympic Distance did these courses twice.

It was cloudy and 20 degrees.

It was brand new race, out and back for 5km and 10km on boardwalk and historic Charlottetown.

Finish in 44:47, my best 10km this year, 3 seconds faster than Raiders Run. Came 11th out of 45 runners.

Blair Salter from Nova Scotia and Rebecca Walker from Summerside for top Male and Female in the 10km.

The hot day, sunny, little wind and 20 degrees.


A 7.2 mile loop course around the Dunk River.


Came in 52:59. That is 2 minutes and 8 seconds better than my best time at the race in 2004.




I got 2nd Place in 19 and Under Male and came 18 out of 79 runners.

Summerside's Scott Clark and Shelley Simmons-MacLeod were top male and female.

The day of last year ending of tip to tip run across PEI.

CENTRAL BEDEQUE -- It was a perfect anniversary celebration Sunday morning!

Sunny weather, warm temperatures, a little breeze, two first-time winners of the event and a record number of participants all contributed to a successful 30th annual Dunk River Run, sponsored by Callbeck's Home Hardware.

"The weather was perfect for it," said Scott Clark, who was the overall winner in 43 minutes 18 seconds (43:18). "The wind was on our back for the start, which made for a couple of fast early miles, and coming on the backstretch the wind was right in our face for a few kilometres.

"That helped to keep you cool for those four, five kilometres on the backstretch when you hit a couple of hills."

Shelley Simmons-MacLeod of Summerside was the first female to hit the finish line in 52:42. She was 16th overall.

"It was hot for part of the way and then when you got the breeze you had to face the wind," said Simmons-MacLeod. "Everybody was running against the same elements and you just go with it."

79 Runners

A total of 79 runners ran the 7.22-mile looped course, surpassing last year's 68 total.

"Everything was great," said longtime race organizer Paul Wright, who offered his sincere appreciation to the runners for their support during the awards ceremony.

Clark said his goal going into the race was to break 43 minutes.

"I wasn't able to do that, but I'm still pretty pleased with the time," said the Summerside native. "I always find this course tough and I'm happy to win it."

Clark didn't waste anytime jumping out to a quick lead.

"John Bil ran with me for the first couple of miles," said Clark, 43.

"We were pushing the pace pretty good and we ran the first mile in 5:30, and then we slowed to a 5:40 for the second one.

"Then John fell off my shoulder probably about 2 1/2 miles in, and I never looked back to see if anyone was on me. I just kept chugging along until we got over the crest of the hill and could see the finish line."

Simmons-MacLeod, 35, also led the female runners from start to finish.

"It's a tough spot to be in because you're running as hard as you can and you never know if there's somebody coming up behind you," said Simmons-MacLeod. "When you're running as hard as you can to start, if someone comes after you you often have nothing left.

"It's not always the best feeling to be the first out.

"It's kind of nice to know where you're sitting and have that little extra to push, but I pushed the entire way and if someone was on my heels it would have been tough to push any harder. I ran hard the entire race."
