The TOSH Farmers Helping Farmers Run at Three Oaks High School. The out and back course on Summerside Waterfront and boardwalk.

David Gallant won the 10 mile race and Jennifer Pizio-Perry for the top female.

I finished in 1:03:19, beat my 10 mile PB, 3:01 faster than Miscouche Firefighters 10 Mile Run in 2009 and came in 5th out of 64 runners.

Jimmy B won the 5 mile race and Paula Finkle for the top female.

Friendship Run for PCH - 2 medals!

It was sunny and 17 degrees.

The Friendship Run for Prince County Hospital at Wilmot Community Centre. The loop course on Water Street, MacEwen Rd, Fox Trail, Confederation Trail and Read Drive.

Mike MacKinnon won the race and Jennifer Pizio-Perry for the top female.

I finished in 38:59 and came in 3rd out of 108 runners. I won a 3rd overall medal and 1st Male 20-29 medal.

Another 10K Personal Best - Source for Sports 10K

It was sun and cloud and 18 degrees.

The Source for Sports 10km at Summerside Intermediate School. The loop course on Central Street, Old Summerside, Water Street, Macewen Rd, and Grenville Street.

Mike MacKinnon won the race and Hanna Walker for the top female.

I finished in 37:46, beat the 10km PB, 31 seconds faster than last month's Cox and Palmer Run and came in 4th out of 90 runners.

I finished in 21:59 and came in 6th out of 57 runners.

I won the Male 30 and under first place medal.

It was cloudy and 12 degrees.

The TOSH Farmers Helping Farmers 5 and 10 Miler at Three Oaks High School. The course on Old Summerside, trail and boardwalk.

The 10 mile race was changed from Miscouche Firefighters 10 Mile Run last year.

Scott Clark won the race and Jennifer Pizio-Perry for the top female.

I finished in 1:10:29 and came in 7th out of 59 runners.

Paul Wright won the 5 mile race and Eva Strongman for the top female.

Scott Clark was the overall winner of the 10-mile event of the Three Oaks Farmers Helping Farmers Run on Saturday. His time was 1:01:19.

SUMMERSIDE - Scott Clark of Linkletter was the top overall finisher in the premiere Three Oaks Farmers Helping Farmers Run on Saturday morning.

Clark finished the 10-mile event in one hour one minute 19 seconds (1:01:19), making it his first first-place finish this season.

"I feel great," Clark said as he sailed over the finish line. "It was a beautiful run that really showcased Summerside."

Jennifer Pizio-Perry of Greenmount was the top female for the 10-mile run with a time of 1:10:04.

"It was a good, wet run," Pizio-Perry said. "I had never run the Summerside boardwalk before."

Top male and female runners for the five-mile run were Paul Wright of Central Bedeque at 34:38, and Eva Strongman of Linkletter at 41:54.

The course took runners along the boardwalk, Confederation Trail and through the streets and parks of Summerside.

Clark is currently preparing for the upcoming P.E.I. Marathon that happens in October.

"Sixteen kilometres (10 miles) is a good distance to get you ready," he said.

Clark has a personal goal of two hours 50 minutes for the P.E.I. Marathon.

Pizio-Perry also has the P.E.I. Marathon in the back of her mind. She said that if she gets a few more long-distance runs in over the next three weeks she would strongly consider attempting her first full marathon.

"I have a lot of work ahead of me," Pizio-Perry said with a smile.

I finished in 43:11, came in 18 out of 107 runners and 2nd in 20-29 silver medal. Beating 29 seconds from last year.

My brother visit 2 weeks and came to watch the race.

Source For Sports 10K Road Race

It was sunny and 17 degrees.

The Source For Sports 10km race at Summerside school. The course on downtown Summerside, Central Street and MacEwen road.

Connor McGuire won the race Caroline Schlosser from Halifax for the top female.

I finished in 44:21 and came in 24th out of 87 runners.

I won the $25 gift card from Source For Sports for 20th male.

Next Saturday, I run the 25km run at Kensignton Harvest Festival.

Opening Ceramories at Credit Union Place for the 2009 Canada Summer Games are next Saturday.

The Friendship Run for Prince County Hospital

It was sun and cloud and 20 degrees.

The Friendship Run at Summerside on the 10km loop course on road and trail.

I ran 37km at National Park and home on Thursday for training the first marathon. It was the farthest run ever.

Today I finish in 43:50 and made the top 10 finish and came in 9th out of 83 runners.

Mike MacKinnon won the race and new course record of 34:57 and Linda MacIsaac-Gallant for the top female.

I got a 2nd place in Male 20-29 medal.

Work on Summerside's artificial turf multi-use sports field is expected to be complete by mid November.

Construction of the field, situated north of Willow Avenue adjacent to Credit Union Place, began two weeks ago.

Also being constructed are three tennis courts and two beach volleyball courts located south of Willow Avenue, also adjacent to Credit Union Place.

Summerside's chief administrative officer Terry Murphy said another area has been set aside for possible development of a second artificial-turf field.

The entire project, being constructed for the 2009 Canada Games, has an estimated price tag of $2.9 million.

Contracted to do the work is Charlottetown-based company, Island Coastal Services, with funding from the three levels of government along with the Canada Games Host Society.

A 32Km Day - Source For Sports 10K & Run 4 Wishes

It was cloudy and overcast and 16 degrees.

The Source for Sports, Clark's Toyota 10km race fundraiser for Run 4 Wishes for the Children's Wish Foundation.

The 10km loop course on waterfront, Central Street and MacEwen Road.

A record numbers of runners in the 16th year of the race.

I finished in 43:15 and 23rd out of 89 runners.

Prizes for 1st place, 10th place and 20th place for male and female and I got 20th male for a $25 gift card.

Harry Moore from Edmonton won the race and Jennifer Perry for the top female.

In the afternoon I joined the navy runners from HMCS Charlottetown on the Run 4 Wishes from Oyster Bed Bridge to Charlottetown Province House.

Mom was on her bike.

It was 22km with couple a breaks on the bus but ran about 20km.

Dianne and Elaine joins before me and Kim right after.

Randy and Dylan Allain join us in Milton and Cheryl and Pam join us before Charlottetown. Alan was all day with them on the bus and running.

Were take a break at Allan Street Sobeys and went to Province House.

It was good run and good cause.

Triathlon plans underway for Summerside event

SUMMERSIDE -- A multi-sport event will be held in Summerside on Sunday morning, Aug. 3.
The Summerside Triathlon will feature a 750-metre swim in the Summerside Harbour, a 20-kilometre bike ride over a looped course and a five-kilometre run. The start and finish lines for each leg will be at the same location on Harbour Drive.
"That is called a sprint triathlon," said race director Cheryl Tanton. "It's a very young sport on the Island."
The triathlon is a "test event" for the 2009 Canada Summer Games, which will be held on P.E.I., and organizers need at least 50 volunteers.
"A volunteer could be anything from handing out water to road control," said Tanton, who adds she'll be "thrilled with 100" participants.
"You don't have to be an ironman or woman to try," said Tanton. "It's not your stumble-to-the-finish-line type of event that people see on television."
Tanton hopes to attract participants from throughout the Maritimes and possibly some Canada Games' athletes.
"I'm hoping Island people will come out," she said. "We'll be competing against ourselves. Age-group participants don't have to feel intimidated because we won't be competing against the junior national athletes."
Tanton expects the age groups to be 19-and-under and in all likelihood go in 10-year divisions.
The major challenge in attracting competitors for triathlons, says Tanton, is the swimming aspect.
"You can swim any stroke you want and can even flip over on your back and kick," said Tanton.
