I won the race in PB time! The Mikinduri 15Km Run

It was sunny and 18 degrees.

The Rotary Run for Mikinduri at Metro Credit Union in Stratford. The course on Kinlock Rd, Keppoch Rd, Georgetown Rd, and Stratford Rd.

I won the 15km race and finished in 1:00:51, beat my 15km PB, 3:35 faster than last Sunday's Desmond Baglole Scenic Road Run and came in 1st out of 43 runners. Kristy Newson for the top female.

Matt MacDonald won the 5km race and Sandra McConkey for the top female.

The Kent Building Supplies 7km Run in Bloomfield. The loop course on Mill River East Rd, Foy Rd and Western Rd.

Mike MacKinnon won the race and Jennifer Pizio-Perry for the top female.

I finished in 25:51, my 7km PB, 2:12 faster than last year and came in 3rd out of 42 runners.

It was cloud and few showers and 20 degrees.

The Desmond Baglole Scenic Road Run in Millvale. The loop course on Millvale Rd, Old Princetown Rd, Warburton Rd, and New Orleans Rd.

Steve Baglole won the race and Jen Nicholson for the top female.

I finished in 1:04:26, beat my 15km PB, 2:06 faster than Rotary Run For Mikinduri in 2008 and came in 7th out of 73 runners. I got stung on my arm at first half Km.

That's 3 PBs in a row, 25Km, 7Km and 15Km.

A Course Best 15K Desmond Baglole Scenic Road Run

It was sun and cloud and 23 degrees.

The Desmond Baglole Scenic Road Run in Millvile. The loop course on Millvile road, Old Princetown road and Warburton road.

David Brown won the race and Rebecca Pike for the top female.

I finished in 1:13:42 and came in 19th out of 59 runners. I beat my best race time 21 seconds from last year.

It was sun and cloud and windy and 14 degrees.

Rotary Run for Mikinduri at Stratford.

The 15km loop course on Straford, Keppoch road, Gerogetown Road and Tea Hill.

Stanley Chaisson won the race and Kristy Newson for the top female. Gaeton Dollaire won the 5k race and Natalie Dallaire for top female.

I finished in 1:08:09 and came in 6th out of 50 runners.

There were good food and prizes and music.

It was cloudy and raining and 23 degrees.

The Scenic 15km run in Millvale.

The loop course on tough hills and road.

Steven Baglole won the race and Rebecca Pike for the top female.

I finished in 1:14:03 and beat 49 seconds from last year and came in 13th out of 30 runners.

The three days run was completed. Paul Burnley also ran all three runs.

A Personal Best 15K and a 5K with an Olympian

On Saturday it was sunny and 19 degrees.

The Bank s Financial Group Run at Charlottetown area on the 5km loop.

I made the top 10 and under 20 minutes and came in 9th out of 56 runners and time of 19:29.

Stephen Baglole won the race and Kara Grant a two time Olympian who completes in Modern Pentathlon in Athens and Beijing for the top female.

Sunday it was cloudy and raining and 19 degrees.

The Rotary Run For Mikinduri at Stradford and Tea Hill.

The 15km course are hills and houses.

At 3km mark I saw Camp Gencheff, a summer camp when I young.

I made the top 10 and came in 5th out of 44 runners and time of 1:06:32 and a personal best by almost three minutes.

Tyler Sellar won the race and Pat Ellis for the top female.

In 5K Steven Reeves won the 5k race and Amy Boswall for top female.

Thank you everyone for a great race!!

We can't tell you how grateful we are to see such a turnout this morning, both runners and volunteers, in what was definitely less-than-ideal weather. You all were just superb and your support is what made the first Rotary Run for Mikinduri possible. Preliminary figures show that we raised over $2,000 for the Children of Mikinduri and that's just the mark we'll have to beat next year. Of course, we will try to secure some better weather ...

We hope you all had a fun time today. We'll post times and pictures to the website in the next week, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, stay dry, don't stand under anything metal while it's lightning out .. and keep running.

Announcing the 1st
Rotary Run for Mikinduri

proceeds to benefit a fantastic cause: Mikinduri Children of Hope, and other select international projects of the Rotary Club of Stratford. Every runner out there will mean better clothes, better food and much needed help for the people of Mikinduri.

Mikinduri is a small, poor, remote Kenyan village in eastern Africa. The people have little opportunity for work, except as labourers on small farms. Like most African countries, Kenya is plagued with the effects of disease and insufficient food. Some of the children cannot afford school fees, which prevents then from getting an education. Their future is bleak. This village of kind, hard working, gentle people desperately need outside help.

Despite their challenges, the people of Mikinduri are determined to make a better life for themselves and their children. Many are active in their community and have developed several projects with which we are attempting to assist them.

Mikinduri Children of Hope is a dedicated group of volunteers based in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. It was initiated in 2003 By Makena Ambassa who was born near Mikinduri and now lives in PEI.

Course Info

15K

"Our 15K is a tough, grueling hill run, that's sure to test the strongest of hearts! It also makes a great training run for the PEI Marathon."

You'll start off running down Kinlock from the Metro Credit Union straight up to Fox Meadow, and then down to Keppoch. Take a left on Keppoch and you'll work your way over to Georgetown Road and your first major challenge: Tea Hill. The top of Tea Hill is the 5K mark, and you'll find a water station right there.

Continue on up Georgetown and follow it as it turns into Stratford Road, bending back around to pass an aid station at 7.5K and then cross Kinlock. You'll keep going and take a left by the Big Blue Church onto Keppoch, to the second major challenge: the mile-long hill up Keppoch. The top will be the 10K mark with another water station.

You'll turn left quickly after this onto Skye Lane and follow the subdivision back over to Kinlock. There, you'll climb your last hill up to Fox Meadow and then speed back down to the finish line at Metro!

Stations: The 2 water stations will be stocked with Gatorade and water, along with some ethusiastic volunteers! The aid station will have bananas and pretzels, as well as Gartorade and water (and volunteers).

"But, don't worry, for those into enjoying the last bit of summer our 5K is just the kind of fun, socialable run that gets your Sunday started right."

As with the 15K, you'll start off running down Kinlock from the Metro Credit Union straight up to Fox Meadow. You'll split off from the 15K here, taking a left to pass through a subdivision back down to Stratford Road. There'll be an aid station as you turn onto Stratford, at the 2.5K mark.

You'll then speed back across Kinlock and take a right on Greenview. You'll start a fun little section, going on and off some of the lovely Stratford trail, before hitting Aintree Road. You'll come out Aintree onto Kinlock and take a right to finish at the Metro!

Station: The aid station will be stocked with Gatorade, water, bananas and pretzels (same great volunteers!).

Bring the whole family!

While the runners are away, they'll have plenty of stuff for friends and families to do.
There'll be a couple of Wii consoles set up, for friendly matches or for some intense competition - you choose! They will have games, balloons and face painting for kids of all ages and lots of food and drink.

It was sunny and 20 degrees.

The 15km loop course on the PEI dirt roads and tough hills.

The CTV Maritimes cameraman Dan Viau arrives at Millvale to reports on the race for the news. I saw me at the start line on TV.

I finished in 1:14:52 and came in 14th out of 38 runners. The best time by 5 minutes from last year.

Stephen Baglole won the race and Pat Ellis for the top female.

Grande-Digue - My first race off Island

It was sunny and 14 degrees.

The 15km loop course was on the road by the water, not too hilly and 1.5km downhill at the end.

Started and ended at big church.

It was first run on the mainland for me and Sandra Gregory.

The average 5km time of 23 minutes, the 10km split time of 46 minutes and breaking 70 minutes barrier own PB by more than 10 minutes!

Mike Meacher won his age division, Dorothy Gregory was 3rd in her age division.

Athena and Jamie was also running from PEI.

I finished in 1:09:19 in 47th out of 214 runners.

I ate spaghetti afterwards and award presentation with race organizer Sylvio Bourque then went to my grandmother.
