Track team to compete at regional event

Eight athletes from Prince Edward Island are among the 108 entries taking part in the fourth Eastern Canadian Espoir track and field team championships that open tonight at the Mount Pearl Track in Newfoundland.
The host province has 33 entries with 30 from Ontario, 26 from Quebec, eight from New Brunswick and three from Nova Scotia.

- Tanya Gallant in the long jump and triple jump
- Stephanie Sobey in the 100-metre and 200-metre dashes
- Susan Sobey in the 100-metre and 200-metre dashes
- Matthew Caseley in the 400-metre run and the discus throw
- Ryan Doucette in the 400-metre and 800-metre runs
- Gerry MacAdam in the 100-metre and 200-metre dashes
- Kurt McCormack in the 400-metre run and the triple jump
- James Sullivan in 400-metre and 800-metre runs
