The Olympic Torch Run Dream Confirmed!

Torch Relays

CONGRATULATIONS Alex,

On behalf of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay presented by Coca-Cola and RBC and supported by the Government of Canada, we're pleased to confirm you are one of 12,000 Olympic Torchbearers who will soon hold history in your hands when you carry the Olympic Flame in the Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay. Your story will help create our path of northern lights along the 45,000 kilometre journey of the Olympic Flame.

You will be carrying the Olympic Flame for a distance of approximately 300 metres. Your segment details are:

Community: Winsloe
Date: November 22, 2009
From: Petro Canada
To: Jim Perry's Auto Upholstery
On: Hwy 2
Approximate time of your segment: 9:38 AM AST
Your torchbearer number is: OTR024-025

Please tell your family and friends to look for your torchbearer number on a bright orange route marker that will be placed at the start of your relay segment. This is the best place for them to come and cheer you on!
[...]
Congratulations again! And thank you for being an everyday champion of positive change in your community. We wish you the very best in your personal endeavours and hope you'll take this moment to celebrate -- with glowing hearts -- and to cherish what it means to be part of the Olympic Movement.

Congratulations. But only 300 m? I thought you'd get to carry it further than that. Well, enjoy it regardless.

I'm so happy for you Alex. My first real memories of the Olympics were the ones held in Calgary, when I was a very young girl. I remember watching a young girl who had been selected to light the Olympic Flame at the Stadium and how proud she looked. It's always been a dream of mine.... I wish I could come cheer you on in person, but I live too far (Ottawa), but I will send you lots of positive energy and really look forward to seeing the pictures. Happy Hallowe'en :)
